W s pc s pc c s s pc pc pc pc pc pc s pc s s s s s s c pc r s Sealed bids are due by Nov. 30 The Daily Astorian The Warrenton Marina is holding a closed bid auction for derelict or abandoned boats that marina staff seized earlier this fall. Seven boats are for sale, ranging from a wooden sail- boat, the 26-foot-long Arluk, to the 72-foot-long 1967 sail- ing vessel Master Chris. When the boats were listed for sale in early November, the prices reflected the fees owners owed the marina. Harbormaster Jane Sweet said she was hoping to recoup some of the costs to the marina. Bidding is open until Nov. 30. Potential bidders are asked to submit their name and con- tact information to the marina office in Warrenton, as well as the name of the boat they are interested in and the amount they are offering. Derelict or abandoned boats are a problem at public marinas across Oregon, but disposing of them can be expensive. Often, marinas attempt to sell the boats, but rarely recoup what they have lost in potential rev- enue or what they have spent to maintain and store the boats in the absence of an active owner, according to the state.
