enth annual “Community Day
of Thanks” takes place from
noon to 3 p.m. Thursday at the
Warrenton Community Center,
170 S.W. Third St. The event,
which is open to the public
and offered free of charge, is
sponsored by Thankful Hearts,
a group of local families who
have come together to cook
and serve their community on
Thanksgiving Day.

Seaside Elks collecting goods for
holiday food boxes to help needy

SEASIDE — Seaside Elks
Lodge members are collect-
ing canned and boxed food for
hungry families at Thanksgiv-
ing. Donations may be dropped
off at the Elks Lodge, 324 Ave-
nue A. Each box contains food
for a complete turkey dinner,
as well as other nonfood items
needed by families. Seaside
Elks received a grant from the
Elks National Foundation to
help with this project.

person or family who deserves

‘Get a Grasp on Medicare’
classes offered at hospital

care” class is being held from
3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 28 in
the second floor Coho Room
at the Columbia Memorial
Hospital Columbia Center,
2021 Marine Drive in Astoria,
and from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 29
at Our Lady of Victory Cath-
olic Church, 120 Oceanway in
Seaside.
There are no sales presenta-
tions and no special offers, just
free, unbiased Medicare infor-
mation, including: a summary
of Part A and Part B benefits
and 2018 updates; Medicare
choices during the annual open
enrollment period, which ends
Dec. 7; Part D benefits and
how to enroll; avoiding health
care fraud; and other helpful
resources.

The Chief Petty Officer Association, Lower Columbia River Chapter, donated $1,000 to the local Kiwanis Club to help
