lege hosts a Veterans Day
Celebration and Patriot Hall
Rededication at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday at Patriot Hall, 1651
Lexington Ave.
Patriot Hall was first dedi-
cated on Nov. 11, 1921 to the
“Clatsop County soldiers of
all wars.” The ceremony hon-
ors the original dedication and
continuing tradition of honor-
ing veterans. The event also
features presentations by the
American Legion, Jewell
High School Wind Ensemble,
Columbia River Symphony,
North Coast Chamber Orches-
tra, North Coast Chorale and
North Coast Symphonic Band.
Refreshments follow the
ceremony.
Bingo and dessert auction raises
money for Christmas charities

Fundraiser planned for family of deckhand

CHINOOK, Wash. — A barbecue
dinner, silent auction and live auction
fundraising event for the children of
Juan Albelo, a deckhand on a commer-
cial tuna boat who died in September
while fishing for albacore, is being held
from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the
Chinook School Gymnasium, 810 State
Route 101 in Chinook. Admission is by
donation.
The dinner and silent auction begin
at 4:30 p.m., followed by the live auc-
tion at 7 p.m. The auctions feature
local artistry, gift baskets, gift certif-
icates, products and services by local
retail businesses. Monetary dona-
tions are accepted at any Bank of the

Community Action fundraiser dinner and auction fights hunger

CANNON BEACH — Clatsop Com-
munity Action holds its eighth annual
“Coastal Harvest of Giving” dinner and
auction from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the
Surfsand Resort Ballroom, 48 Gower Ave.
in Cannon Beach. The event helps fund
the CCA Regional Food Bank in its fight
against hunger.
Tickets cost $150 per person ($100 is
tax deductible), which are available on a
first-come, first-served basis, and must be
paid for in advance. Only 180 tickets will
be available until Nov. 24, or until sold out.
A cocktail reception is from 6 to 7 p.m.,
followed by dinner from 7 to 8:30 p.m. by
Chefs Bob Neroni and Josh Archibald.
The program and auction conclusion are
from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The mistress of ceremonies and auc-
tion host is Joyce Senior, and the speaker
is Regional Food Bank Director Mar-
lin Martin. Jeffrey Reynolds provides the
musical presentations.

Warrenton High School hosts
local holiday shopping fair
The Daily Astorian
WARRENTON — The
first Local Holiday Shopping
& Community Fair is being
hosted at Warrenton High
School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday. This is planned to be
an annual event. While shop-
ping, free babysitting for ages 2
and older is available, provided
by the WHS Student Council.
Numerous vendors are
there, including local artisans
and businesses, as well as local
nonprofit organizations, such
as The Harbor, whose mis-
sion is to provide intervention,
recovery and support to sur-
vivors of domestic violence,
sexual assault and stalking.
Resources and information
will be shared. Another goal
of the fair is to increase youth
exposure to local businesses
and nonprofit organizations,
giving them another perspec-
tive on career and volunteering
options.
Proceeds from the fair will
be donated to The Harbor and
the WHS Student Council.
Windermere collects warm
clothing and blankets for needy

Local real estate brokers
are gearing up for Windermere
Real Estate’s annual Share the
Warmth campaign. Through
Dec. 15, brokers are collecting
new or gently used adult-sized
coats and twin-sized blankets
to benefit the local community.
These programs are specifi-
cally asking for hats, gloves,
mittens and scarves.
The public can drop off
donations at participating Wind-
ermere offices to. The office in
Astoria is located at 175 14th

Regional Food Bank — Volunteers

cessing, picking orders for agencies,
light janitorial and housekeeping,
or lawn and grounds maintenance.
