Recreation Foundation
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Sunset Park & Recreation Foundation
Scholarship Program makes a positive impact
on hundreds of lives through the SEPRD
Programs. The Foundation’s collaborations
with community partners have resulted in the
Seaside Skate N’ Ride Park, The Circle of Lights
Legacy Project – an extraordinary 6 year
financial commitment by 17 donors for the
purchase and installation of lights at Broadway
Field; and a Foundation no-interest loan for the
baseball backstops. Most recently, the ADA lift
for Sunset pool, was jointly funded by the
Foundation, Seaside Rotary Foundation and
Providence Seaside Hospital in memory of June
Stromberg who exemplified Giving Back. The
Foundation is the funding vehicle for Swim
Team Scholarships and to sustain “THE
PROGRAM”– Wipe-Out Tobacco, Alcohol,
Drugs, Gangs - well known because of its founder Byron Meeks. “THE PROGRAM” begins in 5th grade, supporting positive
behaviors and self-esteem and awards one of its graduating seniors a $1K scholarship to attend college.
The Foundation works with prospective donors to identify projects that will make a difference in our community’s recreational
and positive lifestyle opportunities. We accept donations of property, money or securities for park and recreational purposes and
advise donors in appropriate gift-giving strategies

pace to disperse around $40,000 in 2016.
The Foundation provides a bridge for new
