WARRENTON — The
Pioneers Motorcycle Club
hosts a Warrenton Warm-
ing Center Poker Run and
Canned Food Drive on Sat-
urday. Registration and the
run start at 9 a.m. at the War-
renton High School parking
lot. The run ends at the War-
renton Mission Christian Fel-
lowship Church, 525 N.W.
Warrenton Drive. There are
staggered starts, and the last
bike out is at 11 a.m. The first
hand costs $10 and a blan-
ket; additional hands are $5
each. Nonriders are welcome
to this family-friendly event.
At 3 p.m., hamburgers
and hot dogs are available,
along with live music and
raffles, and a 50/50 drawing
is at 2 p.m. Bring a canned
food donation. Donations of
gloves, socks and blankets
are also welcome, as is cash;
checks should be made pay-
able to the Warrenton Cal-
vary Assembly of God.

Salvage Chief reunion and tours
on tap Saturday and Sunday

The fourth annual Salvage
Chief Reunion and Fundraiser
is being held Saturday at Clat-
sop Post 12 American Legion,
1132 Exchange St. A soup and
sandwich lunch is served at
noon, and costs $5.
The program includes
movies, sea stories and a
memorial service. Raffle tick-
ets are $1 each, or six for $5.
Salvage Chief history books,
T-shirts and hats can be pur-
chased at the event.
The reunion dinner and
raffle drawing are from 4
to 7 p.m. Saturday, also at
the American Legion. Din-
ner starts at 4 p.m., and costs
$20 per person. A choice of a
prime rib or chicken cordon
bleu with all the trimmings is
being served until 7 p.m. or
it’s gone. Greg Parke is pro-
viding the music.
Tours of the Salvage
Chief and a barbecue start
at noon Sunday. The loca-
tion is reached by turning
north onto Liberty Lane off
U.S. Highway 30. Go past
the Marine and Environmen-
tal Research and Training Sta-
tion (MERTS) campus to the
parking lot, where the picnic
is being held. The vessel tours
are at the old Army Corps of
Engineers dock nearby. The
cost of the meal is by donation.
The public is welcome to
attend all three events. Dona-
tions to the Salvage Chief
LSM 380 Foundation are tax
deductible.
Lives In Transition at
Clatsop Community College
is a free 11-week program
that supports adult learn-
ers attending college. On
the Astoria campus, evening
classes start Monday, and
meet from 5:30 to 7:20 p.m.
each Monday and Wednesday
on the second floor of Alder
Hall, 1651 Lexington Ave.
Daytime classes start Tues-
day, and meet from 9 a.m. to
1:30 p.m. each Tuesday.
Seaside classes start Mon-
day , and meet from 10:30
a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each
Monday and Wednesday at
the college’s South County
Campus, 1455 N. Roosevelt
Drive.
Afternoon Spanish-lan-
guage classes begin Tuesday,
and meet from noon to 2:20

Wednesday.
Participants must attend
the first class to register.

about “Crossing Cultures
with Story,” from 11:30 a.m.

seminar explores the qual-
ities of stories that must be
told to engage, educate and
empower communities when
in need or in a crisis.
For-mukwai is an award-
winning speaker and inter-
national trainer. Originally
from Cameroon, he has spent
most of his professional life
in Singapore and the U.S.

Clatsop Community Action
Regional Food Bank — Volun-
teers needed to help hand out
fruits and vegetables at the weekly
produce pantries for two hours on
Thursdays, from April to October,
in Seaside and Warrenton. Ware-
house attendants are needed for
food packing or processing, picking
orders for agencies, light janitorial
and housekeeping, or lawn and
grounds maintenance. Three to
four-hour shifts are available Mon-

Outreach Literacy — Needs
