industry is a vital component of many
local economies, especially in summer
months when tourists visit the area.
Patrick Leary is part of a group of young
people in Cannon Beach who bike 15 to
20 miles a day in the community provid-
ing information to visitors and monitor-
ing parking. “I love helping people, and
this is a job where I get to interact with
people and help the community,” he said.

nity. Leary said writing citations was just
one small part of a job that primarily in-
volves helping people in the community.
“One of our most important jobs is being
of assistance to the people of Cannon
Beach and the police department,” he said.
