Port sues charter
boat operator for
moorage fees
By EDWARD STRATTON
The Daily Astorian
The Port of Astoria is suing
Henry Tomingas, owner of
the passenger ship Wilderness
Explorer, for $10,000 in over-
due moorage.
The Port’s lawsuit claims
Tomingas in November 2015
agreed to pay $936 a month
in moorage, but since Septem-
ber has refused to pay $10,000
worth of moorage fees. The
agency is seeking $10,000 in
economic damages, attorney
fees and pre- and post-judg-
ment interest.
The Port’s attorney in
the matter, Eric Brickenstein,
sent a letter in July to a P.O.
Box in Girdwood, Alaska,
demanding payment from
Tomingas.
Tomingas, who was not
immediately available for
comment, has not responded
to the Port’s lawsuit.
