Attendance at the Clatsop
County Fair last week was
down by more than 1,000
people compared to l ast year.
“I think the heat affected
attendance,” said Kathi Mat-
tinen, the fair’s manager .
During the heat wave,
Astoria saw temperatures of
more than 90 degrees.
The total attendance,
excluding 4-H, was 12,605,
compared to 13,964 last
year.
The carnival income
was also lower this year ,
at $17,891 , down from
$21,006 last year .
