2017 ASTORIA REGATTA
ADMIRAL
ERIK THORSEN
rik Thorsen has spent the majority of his life in the Astoria-Warrenton
area. He grew up in Warrenton and graduated from Warrenton High
School in 1987. Thorsen attended the University of Puget Sound in
Tacoma, Washington, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in
accounting. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Marylhurst
University in Portland, Oregon, and holds an active CPA license in Washington state.
Currently, Thorsen is Columbia Memorial Hospital’s chief executive officer, a
position he has held since Jan. 1, 2010. Prior to being named CEO, Thorsen acted as
the hospital’s chief operating officer and also served as the hospital’s chief financial
officer. He has been with CMH for nearly 15 years.
Thorsen has extensive experience in the health care industry, including 25 years

in health care administration. He began his career as the finance director for a
system of low-income health care clinics in Tacoma, Washington. He moved into
hospital administration in 1994 with Ocean Beach Hospital in Ilwaco, Washington.
Prior to joining CMH, Thorsen was the regional director of finance for PeaceHealth
St. John Medical Center in Longview, Washington.
Thorsen has always been actively involved in the local community. He serves on
and supports a number of local community boards and associations.
Thorsen and his wife, Mary, spend their free time with their three children, Keifer,
Jake and Ella. They love raising their family in this community and enjoy all the
outdoor activities the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
