Axel R. Englund in July
1944 as a retail and
wholesale marine supply
store. On July 22 of this
year, Englund Marine will

Englund Marine, which started as a small
marine store on the waterfront at the foot of
15th St. in Astoria, has grown to a chain of
seven stores with an experiened crew of 83.
Additional stores: Ilwaco, Wash., opened
1966; Westport, Wash., opened 1975;
Charleston, OR, opened 1979; Crescent
City, Calif., opened 1981; Newport, OR
opened 1988; and Eureka, Calif., opened 1995.
In 2001, Englund Marine expanded its product line by purchasing longtime, local
Fisher Brothers Industrial Supply. We now offer a complete line of marine and
industrial supplies

owned company since 1952, serving the community

Del Thompson went to work for OK Rubber Welders
in 1952. Then in 1962 he bought the business. In 1978
Klyde took over as manager and co-owner with Harriet
Thompson. He bought out Harriet in 1997, so Klyde and his
wife Mary Kaye are the present owners.
In 1983, Klyde was one of the founders of the NW Tire
Factory Group, which has grown to over 200 locations in
33 years. In 2015, Tire Factory merged with Point S Tire and
Auto Group, bringing the number of locations in North
America and Europe to over 4,000.
