The Assistance League of the Colum-
bia Pacifi c has announced that Mike Burk,
manager of the Seaside Nike Factory Out-
let Store, is the recipient of the Assistance
League National Operation School Bell
Award, given to honor those, who through
signifi cant fi nancial, in kind or service sup-
port, have a direct and positive effect on
Operation School Bell in the community.
One night every fall, the Assistance
League takes over the Seaside Nike store
for an evening of fun and shopping for 135
local middle and high school boys. Over
the years, Burk and his team have been an
important partner, working with the league
to make “Nike Night” a great experience

Bell Chairwoman Liz Knutsen. Also at
the luncheon, Alisa Dunlap, Pacifi c Power
regional manager, presented Karyn Grass,
the league’s vice president of the resource
development, a Pacifi c Power Foundation
check for $3,500.

Moose Lodge holds spaghetti
feed for Astoria Band Boosters
The Astoria Moose Lodge No. 408, Chapter 422, is hosting
a spaghetti feed in support of the Astoria Band Boosters from
6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the lodge, 420 17th St., featuring enter-
tainment by the Astoria High School Jazz Band.
On the menu are spaghetti, salad and bread. All proceeds
from the dinner will go directly to the Astoria Band Boosters.
The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for kids age 6 to 17.

SEASIDE — An presentation highlighting the details and
changes to the Small Business Administration 504 loan pro-
gram, featuring speakers Mike Miller and Jim Bright, of the

gram is for owner-user commercial real estate fi nancing, and
offers up to 90 percent fi nancing and low fi xed rates. Refresh-

Sign up to run with the trolls
The 14th annual Running of the Trolls, a run/walk through
the Olney/Walluski countryside, takes place June 17 as part of
the Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival, and is spon-
sored by Columbia Memorial Hospital.
The race fee is $25, and registration forms can be found at
www.astoriascanfest.com, or are available the day of the race,
when registration is from 7 to 8 a.m. The race starts at 8:30
a.m. To guarantee the T-shirt size wanted, send in registration
forms by June 1.
All proceeds from the race go to the Astoria Scandinavian
Midsummer Festival Association Scholarship Fund.

of University Women Astoria branch’s 90th anniversary cel-
ebration at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Clatsop County Heritage
Museum, 1618 Exchange St. Members are wearing apparel
representative of each decade, and an exhibit of gowns, mem-
orabilia and photographs are on display.
The AAUW Astoria Branch’s fi rst meeting was held on
May 12, 1927, and except for during World War II, has been
meeting continuously to the present. Its history includes grant-
ing scholarships, aiding the library, establishing kindergartens
and history classes in state schools, researching and honor-
ing women during Astoria’s bicentennial and co-sponsoring
Women Interested in Going to School (WINGS). Refresh-
ments will be served.
