Astoria Rotary honors AHS students Roe, Albright
The Daily Astorian
The Astoria Rotary hon-
ored two Astoria High School
students, Claire Albright and
Elizabeth Roe, as Students of
the Month for April. Both stu-
dents received a Rotary Certif-
icate and a gift certificate from
The Rusty Cup.
Albright is a junior at AHS.
She is involved in the AOL
Club and Spanish Club, has
lettered three times in soc-
cer, and was also on the Asto-
ria High School swim team.
She intends to attend college

Roe
somewhere in Oregon, and
has yet to select a major. Her
parents are Chuck and Molly
Albright.
Roe is a senior at AHS. She
is involved in the Key Club,
Spanish Club, Chinese Club,
Seaside American Association of University
Women branch members attend state convention
Art Club, and Clatsop Cultural
Coalition, and has painted
murals at AHS and Gray
School. She plans to attend
Clatsop Community College
then transfer to a four-year
university in Oregon. Her par-
ents are Travis and Amy Roe.
Astoria Rotary selects Stu-
dents of the Month during the
school year from the junior
and senior classes at AHS and
Knappa High School. To be
selected, students must be in
good standing in school and
involved in school and com-
munity activities.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Clatsop County Public Works
— 1101 Olney Ave. Adopt-A-Road
volunteers needed to remove litter
two times (minimum) per year for
two years. Safety equipment and
supplies provided. Volunteers must
receive safety orientation. For infor-

Clatsop Cruise Hosts — Look-
ing for volunteers to meet and greet
cruise ship passengers and crew,
provide information and answer
questions about the Clatsop Coun-
ty area. Ships arrive in the spring
and fall, about 20 ships each year.

Columbia Memorial Hospital
— Needs volunteers to provide assis-
tance to patients, visitors and hospital
staff. Training provided. For informa-

Columbia River Maritime Mu-
seum — 1792 Marine Drive. Volun-
teer opportunities for those with an
interest in maritime history. For infor-

Center. Volunteers needed week-
days to serve tables and for kitchen

bers attend the 2017 state AAUW convention at Salishan Resort April 21 to 23. AAUW
Oregon priorities included pay equity legislation, protection of victims of sexual ha-
