Vasa Lodge enjoys Swedish
lunches at Tongue Point
Astor Vasa Lodge No. 215 of Astoria enjoyed a lunch and
cooking demonstration April 12 at the Tongue Point Job Corps
Center culinary dining area. Instructor Harley Badger had stu-
dents demonstrate food preparations for the lodge’s pea soup rec-
ipe and Badger’s family potato sausage recipe.
Students prepped and cooked for the group of about 30 lodge
members and guests. The lunch was Swedish from coffee to ling-
onberry cheesecake. Chef Badger explained the student training
process and training sites in the Astoria area. He also told of his
youth, growing up in a Vasa Lodge with his family and Swed-
ish foods.
The luncheon joined two Swedish lodges, one disbanded
and one still active, to share old photos and stories after the
meal.
