ASTORIA — The Oregon
Mandolin Orchestra will
perform at the Liberty
Theatre 7:30 p.m. Saturday,
April 22, as part of a 2017
spring concert tour kicking
off the group’s eighth sea-
son. Doors open at 7 p.m.
A concert will be held
in Portland the night before
and in Ridgefield, Washing-
ton, the day after.
The Orchestra — with 24
instruments from the mando-
lin family and directed by
Portland’s leading mando-
linist, Brian Oberlin — will
perform movements from
Mozart’s Third and Fourth
Violin Concertos and Hum-
mel’s Mandolin Concerto, as
well as folk music from the
Americas.
All three concerts will
feature mandolin luminary
Evan Marshall. The virtu-
oso will perform solos in
the Mozart and Hummel
Concertos. And, in a special
performance, Marshall will
join forces with Oberlin to
play swing, bluegrass and
classical as part of their duet,
Twin Mandolin Slingers.
