Port Artist Association hosts an
artists’ reception for the Cup of
Spring show from 1 to 5 p.m. Sat-
urday in the ArtPort Gallery, 177
Howerton Way. The exhibit fea-
tures watercolorists Eric Wiegardt
and Penny Treat, acrylic painter
and encaustic artist Barbara Mal-
lon, silversmith Luisa Mack,
ceramic artist David Campiche,
ceramic and mosaic jewelry artist
Renee O’Conner and bronze and
glass artist Bill Atwood. Refresh-

ists will be in attendance.

CANNON BEACH — The Cannon Beach History Cen-
ter & Museum, 1387 S. Spruce St., is holding the opening of a
textile exhibit, “Trees,” featuring local artist and quilter Con-
stance Waisanen, at 6 p.m. Saturday. The event is also a meet
and greet with the artist, who will discuss her techniques and
inspiration. All are welcome; wine and hors d’oeuvres will be
provided.
Waisanen transfers original drawings to freezer paper tem-
plates to cut individual pieces, and integrates batik, hand-dyed
and painted fabric using Shibori techniques. “Trees” is on dis-
play through May. Center Diamond is sponsoring this event.
“Where Are You From? Exploring What Makes Us Orego-
nians,” a free conversation with Kerani Mitchell, takes place
at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cannon Beach History Center &
Museum, sponsored by Oregon Humanities’ Conversation
Project.
As an East Indian adoptee who has spent most of her life
in small Oregon towns, the constant questioning of her iden-
tity inspired Mitchell to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Interna-
tional Studies from Seattle University, where she focused on
multicultural and social justice issues. She is a coordinator at
the year-round arts and cultural nonprofit Sisters Folk Festi-
val Inc., and serves on the Bend International School Board.

Easley, a former research
scientist and international
business executive, is the
award-winning author of
the Cal Claxton mystery
stories. He lives in Oregon,
Warren C. Easley
where he writes and tutors
GED students. The author’s latest book, “Not Dead Enough,”
is No. 4 in the Claxton series, which is set in Oregon. The first
book was “Matters of Doubt,” which came out in Septem-
ber 2013, followed by “Dead Float” the following year, and
“Never Look Down” in 2015.
The Cannon Beach Book store will have books available
for sale and signing.
Spaghetti dinner to help mom
A Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for Julie Chapman is being
held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Clatsop Post 12 American
Legion, 1132 Exchange St. Chapman, a single mother of two,
was recently diagnosed with colon cancer, and the funds will
be used to help her, and her family.
On the menu are spaghetti, garlic bread and salad. The cost
is $10 a plate for adults, or $5 a plate for children age 10 and
younger. The event also includes a raffle, silent auction and
karaoke.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
WARRENTON — Breakfast with the Easter Bunny is
being held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Warren-
ton Community Center, 170 S.W. Third St., with all you can
eat pancakes, prepared by Pig ’N Pancake, plus sausages, eggs
and beverages, including coffee donated by Starbucks.
There are also raffles of gift baskets, and children can visit
with the Easter Bunny. The cost is $5 for age 12 and older, $3
for ages 6 to 11, and $1 for age 5 and younger.
This event is sponsored by the Warrenton Community Cen-
ter Advisory Board, and all proceeds will support the Warren-

Meeting focuses on health data
SEASIDE — The Columbia Pacific Coordinated Care
Organization Community Advisory Council hosts a commu-
nity meeting, “Using Data to Understand Community Health
Improvement,” from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Providence Sea-
side Hospital, 725 S. Wahanna Road. The presenter, Ari Wag-
ner, a health data analyst, shows how data comes to life in an
entertaining and meaningful way. This presentation is open to all

Each year, about 250 volunteer shifts are filled at the Asto-
ria-Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce Crab, Seafood and
Wine Festival. This year’s event is April 28, 29 and 30 at the

Kilchis River hike teaches about
steelhead spawning Saturday
TILLAMOOK — The Tillamook Estuaries Partnership
will hold a guided ecology hike on Kilchis River Saturday.
The hike, led by the partnership and the Tillamook Bay
Watershed Council, will help visitors understand how a rain-
bow trout becomes a steelhead and provide an opportunity to
see the fish swimming and spawning in the wild.
The hike is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and starts at
the Mapes Creek Landing on Kilchis River Road. Parking is
$4 per vehicle, payable by cash or check to Tillamook County
Parks Department.
