and Kenneth (Ken) Marroquin
returned to their roots when they tied
the knot on Sept. 10, 2016. The pair
chose to marry outdoors on a bluff overlooking the
Columbia River against the glorious backdrop that is Fort

The bride and groom hail from Washington State — he

bride’s younger brother, Geoff. But Ken and Lindsey didn’t
actually hook up until years later, reconnecting on Facebook.
Theirs was a profoundly sweet, intentionally homespun

place they still call home.
The proposal
Lindsey and her beau had been a couple for a while now.
Then Ken, who is a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy, got
stationed in Hawaii. Lindsey moved there in August 2015.
“We talked about getting married, but he hadn’t proposed,”
she remembered. That didn’t stop Lindsay and her mother
from shopping for a wedding dress before the winsome
blonde left the mainland. The two struck gold at David’s
Bridal (in Portland) with a stunning strapless gown by
designer Melissa Sweet. While the flowing gossamer veil
was new, the garland of dried flowers affixed to it for the
ceremony was worn by her mother when she married
Lindsey’s dad.
“Ken (actually) proposed on Christmas 2015 and when
he learned what we’d done, he had a good laugh,” said his
wife. >>
