THE CYNDI ANDERSON AND ZACH ZUPSIC WEDDING
STORY BY DWIGHT CASWELL

here was no question where
Cydni Anderson and Zach Zupsic were
going to be married. Cydni had been going
to family occasions at her grandmother’s
condo in Gearhart for years, and Zach had
proposed to her there. Gearhart was their special
place. Unfortunately there wasn’t a facility
adequate for their wedding, so what were they do do? They
started looking elsewhere on the North Coast. After all, the

whole coast is pretty special.
Cydni and Zach are very much into outdoor activities —
they met 12 years ago while working at a swimming pool —
and they enjoy going to the beach, sports, camping and skiing.
So it was no surprise that they wanted to get married outdoors,
too. “I’d always wanted the wedding to be outside,” said
Cydni, “and we wanted a view of the water.” As it happens,
there is a great deal of water in the vicinity of Astoria, and
that’s where they chose to be married.
Even though the wedding was on July 23, they also wanted
a location where there was a nearby place that would serve as
a backup in the event of rain. As Cydni said, “One thing I’ve
learned about the Oregon Coast is that you can never trust the
weather.” The couple decided to have the ceremony under the
bridge at the Maritime Memorial, right on the water and close
by hotels where their guests could stay. It was also only a few
minutes’ walk to where they decided to have their reception
(and backup ceremony site), the Loft at the Red Building. >>
