Fourth of July sparks
THE CAT McLELLAN & MITCH BOSSE WEDDING
STORY BY KATE GIESE
C
atherine “Cat” McLellan, 50, and
Mitch Bosse, 52, are fit, fun and full
of life. They met through an online
dating service in 2013. “There were
plenty of fish along with more than a
few ‘throwbacks,” chuckled Cat. This
time around, though, there was a spark. The
pair exchanged posts on Facebook. In June, they met for a
drink at the Palomino Restaurant in Bellevue, Washington,
and began dating. Mitch proposed on June 23, 2015, as he
and Cat enjoyed a bonfire on the beach in Seaside.

The wedding
The lovebirds elected to marry in that wedding Mecca that
is Cannon Beach. “We love it, and it’s so beautiful,” said the
vivacious brunette who won Mitch’s heart. “People could
come to (our) wedding and find lots to do.” Theirs wasn’t
going to be a traditional wedding.
Yet, Cat and Mitch opted for one of several wedding
packages on offer at Cannon Beach’s Surfsand Resort —
quite a popular option for couples who come to the North
Coast to get hitched. So on the Fourth of July last year, the
pair was married on the beach in the shadow of Haystack
Rock, with roughly 70 guests in attendance. A dear family
friend, Pam Yates, officiated.
American flag pinwheels and assorted greenery decorated
the area. Vows were exchanged under a wooden arch
bedecked with a custom-made swag with moss, curly willow,
red rose, white gerbera daisy and dark blue belladonna,
fashioned by Debbie Nelson, aka Cannon Beach Florist
(Basketcase Inc.). Nelson worked wonders using variations
on this theme throughout ceremony and reception. >>
