The Wildlife Center of
the North Coast is looking
for volunteers who are inter-
ested in helping with animal
care and support.
A volunteer orientation
and training is being held
from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 29 at
Clatsop Community College,
1651 Lexington Ave.
Volunteers must be age 18
or older, and be able to com-
mit to one four to six hour

shift per week for at least six
months. To attend the train-

Other volunteer oppor-
tunities that don’t require
animal handling, such as
facilities/maintenance, com-

Tip-a-cop Thursday

Local law enforcement agen-
cies are jointly hosting and
serving as hosts and waiters
at the Tip-A-Cop fundraiser,
which is being held from 4
to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mo’s
Restaurant, 195 Warren Way.
The event also features fun
and food, celebrity greeters
and special guests.
The proceeds will bene-
it Special Olympics Oregon
athletes, the local programs,
and regional and state-wide
competitions.

Spaghetti Feed fundraiser is
being held from 5:30 to 7:30
p.m. Thursday at the Warren-
ton Grade School, 820 S.W.
Cedar Ave. The event also
includes a Muriel Dunn Pie
Auction and rafle prizes.
The cost is $5 per adult,
$3 for children age 11 and
younger and $15 for a fam-
ily pass. All proceeds will
go towards the Warrenton
Warming Center.

p.m. Thursday at two local
libraries with a group read-
ing of “The Bear Ate Your
Sandwich” by Julia Sar-

Star of the
Sea seeks
school photos
The Daily Astorian
St. Mary, Star of the Sea
Catholic Church is renovating
the entrance of its parish hall/
auditorium. The renovation
will include a display of Star
of the Sea School memorabilia
and pictures of each graduating
class from 1939 through 2011.
The school educated local
students for 115 years, from
1896 to 21011. It included
a high school until 1969. In
1970, it became a grade school,
from kindergarten through
sixth grade. Seventh grade was
added in 1976, and in 1977,
the school expanded to include
eighth grade, as well.
The parish needs help locat-
ing photos of six missing grad-
uating classes, including 1971,
1972 (sixth grade), 1978, 1979,
1980 and 1984 (eighth grade).
