Jennifer Causer receives
Works of Heart award
The Daily Astorian
Coast
Rehabilitation
Services employee Jenni-
fer Causer recently received
the Works Of Heart award
from the Oregon Rehabilita-
tion Association (ORA). This
award is given once each year
to outstanding direct support
professionals working in the
ield of supporting people with
developmental disabilities.
Causer has worked in the
ield of developmental disabil-
ities for many years. She pos-
sesses a gift for understanding
the needs of her residents. Her
nomination was suggested and
supported by her co-workers.
“Working with Jennifer
has shown me what’s possi-
ble when a person truly cares
about the people they serve,”
Josh Terrill, services coordina-
tor, said, adding that she is an
“unfathomable asset” to Coast.
Typically, she would
receive the award in front
of hundreds of direct sup-
port professionals and man-
agers gathered for a region-
wide conference sponsored by
ORA. However, at the time of
the ceremony, she was taking
care of her ailing mother-in-
law, providing what she does
best — attention, care and
support.
