Jack’s Country Store — You can
find almost anything here. Check out
the copper washtubs and some of the
“hand driven” small appliances, vin-
tage dish towels and many other items.
Jack’s has the largest supply of the
beautiful gas lamps west of the Missis-
sippi. For the collector, Breyer Hors-
es Check out the walls in front of the
store for a variety of metal washtubs,
etc. He has games from yesteryear —
you know, the ones you played with as
a kid! There is an interesting supply of
the necessary tools used in the kitch-
en (in case you forgot something!)
He also has a great free catalogue that
contains all the things you can get from
Jack’s.

Note: The Rod Run is held about
seven blocks from the ccean to the
west and one block to the Bay to the
east. Most of the “activity” areas
are on Bay Avenue and easy to reach

Avenue. Lots of information about the
area and the states of Washington and
Oregon. There are also postcards and
Garlic Posters for sale in the office.
The Chamber has some maps for the
walking tour of pioneer houses within
a walking distance of the field. Ocean

Forgotten Treasures, Antiques and
Collectible Mall — located next to
Okie’s Thiftway on Bay Avenue. You
will find many things here to tempt
your pocketbook and the prices are

You must at least stand on top of
the hill, let the wind blow through
your hair and forget all your troubles
(if you have any)! Watch the tides;
Sit on a log on the beach to relax.
Hike on the beach and hunt for trea-
sures (Be sure to tuck a plastic bag
into your pocket to carry home your
treasures). You can usually can find
beautiful sand dollars at the tide line
(which make a nice, authentic souve-
nir). Keep an eye out for eagles while
on the beach as they sit up in the
dunes on the tall pieces of driftwood,
etc. We have had many sightings of
whales and beautiful eagles this year
and feel more of them are taking their
vacations here on the Peninsula!
ATM
Remember, there are two ATM
machines on the Rod Run field for
your use. One is located at the north
end of the field by the gate and the
other is near the official Rod Run
Shirt Booth.

Tapestry Rose Yarn Shop — lo-
cated on the beach approach. She also
has a wonderful cafe with a great vari-
ety of food and ice cream. Check out
her back room. She has a huge assort-
ment of yarn to keep you busy for a
long time!
Library — located one block be-
hind the school and you all know what
is there: books, computers and very
helpful librarians!
Restaurants — cold drinks, ice
cream cones, sandwiches, etc.
Pink Café — sandwiches, pop,
coffee
Anita’s Café — full menu — sand-
wiches, drinks, dinners, breakfast
Trolley
The City of Long Beach is run-
ning the trolley again this year. The
pick-up spot is our parking lot. The
hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Satur-
day and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The trolley will not stop in Ocean
Park. The only stops are our parking
lot and Long Beach.
