Astoria Police hosting
‘Coffee with a Cop’
The Daily Astorian
The Astoria Police Depart-
ment is inviting community
members to meet with ofi-
cers later this month to dis-
cuss local issues, build rela-
tionships and drink coffee. The
“Coffee with a Cop” program
takes place at 2 p.m. Tues-
day at the Blue Scorcher Bak-
ery. The program provides a
unique opportunity for com-
munity members to ask ques-
tions and learn more about the
department’s work in neigh-
borhoods, according to police.
The majority of contacts
law enforcement has with the
public happen during emer-
gencies, or emotional situ-
ations. Those situations are
not always the most effective
times for relationship building
with the community, police

Clatsop Community Col-

The program, geared toward
business owners, covers busi-
ness planning, operations, lead-
ership, inancial basics, reports
and statements, branding, mar-
keting, human resources, stra-
tegic planning and more. It
includes a combination of
monthly classes at the college’s
South County Campus, monthly
one-on-one coaching sessions
at the participant’s business and

the director of the college’s Small
Business Development Center,
said some private consultants
charge more than $100 an hour
for similar services. The college
recently added Walt Postlewait,
executive vice president and
chief lending oficer of Craft3, as
manager of the program.
