Philomath High School faces
more canceled football games
Associated Press
PHILOMATH — Philo-
math High School may have to
cancel more football games as
a result of an ongoing investi-
gation into allegations of mis-
conduct by players.
The Corvallis Gazette-
Times reported that the school
has already canceled the foot-
ball team’s Sept. 2 home opener,
but may also have to cancel two
nonleague games because of
Oregon School Activities Asso-
ciation rules on practices.
All football activities have
been suspended through Aug.
31 because of the ongoing
criminal investigation into
conduct that took place at a
summer camp at Camp Rilea
in Warrenton in which 35 play-
ers took part. Members of the
coaching staff have been put
on paid administrative leave.
OSAA rules require three
weeks of practices before games
but because of the suspension,
there likely will not be time for that.
