Park are celebrating Doggy
Days of Astoria from 1 to 4
p.m. Saturday at the park,
which is located at Seventh
Street and Franklin Ave. “It
was a hit last year and we
hope to make this an annual
event,” reports David McEl-
roy, of the Friends group.
McClure Park is a
“pop-up” dog park, with
areas designated for off-
leash free play, wading
est scores split the prize. Game is de-
signed for players 55 and older, but all
ages are welcome.

Block Party
The Daily Astorian
The irst Armory Skate-
park Block Party is being held
from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday
between 16th and 17th streets on
Duane Street. There is no cost
for this event.
The streets will be closed to
trafic to make way for a bar-
becue, beer garden, food carts,
lawn games, eating contests,
temporary tattoos and a skate-
boarding competition. Live
music performers include Aaron
Chapman of Nurses, Sky-
ler Butenshon, Misé, Marshall
Poole, Toothy Gazelle, Hey
Lover and Holiday Friends.
The event also features
Shane Bugbee’s art installation,
“From The Recliner: Between
my feet and my heart. Portraits
of people taken by a sad per-
son with his furry best friend on
his mind.” His multimedia pre-
sentation — which deals with
depression, mental health and
the process of mourning —
includes photos, video, audio, a
sofa, a recliner and a zine.
Bugbee has been an under-
ground icon for more than 30
years. He has published books
and comics, organized festivals
and events, and was a pioneer in
podcasting, vlogging, and citi-
zen journalism.
Public input requested

The Sunset Empire Trans-
portation District Board of
Commissioners is holding a
public hearing during their next
meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday at
the Astoria Transit Center, 900
Marine Drive, to receive pub-
lic input on the adoption of the
recently completed Long Range
Comprehensive Transportation
Plan (LRCTP).
The plan development has
taken over a year, and includes
extensive analysis and local
input.
Recommendations
include changes to route struc-
tures, schedules, passenger
information, vehicles and per-
formance tracking.
An overview of the LRCTP
may be viewed at www.ridethe-
bus.org. Printed copies may be
picked up at the Astoria Tran-
sit Center, 900 Marine Drive,
or at the Seaside Transporta-
tion Kiosk, 111 N. Roosevelt
