ASTORIA REGATTA 2016 REGATTA COURT 2015 astoria regatta QUEEN ALLISON BENTLEY Ally Bentley, daughter of John and Gina Bentley, is a senior at Warrenton High School. Since 2012 she has been an active participant in the Columbia Empire Volleyball Association. She is also a varsity letterman in both golf and volleyball, earning two all-league honors for volleyball in her high school career. A girl with strong faith, she is an active member at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church. For seven years, she was an altar server, and she now attends St. Mary’s Youth Group. She attended the National Catholic Youth Conference in 2013 and once again this past November. She has been involved with various community activities, including volunteering for the ‘Chip-In Park Clean Up,’ Astoria High Schools North Coast VB camp and helping to collect food for the food bank. She has a great passion for young people. She is counselor at Camp Kick-A-Lot, put on by Lower Columbia Youth Soccer Association, each summer. She also enjoys being involved in her high school as she is part of the leadership and spirit committee as well as student council. After high school, she plans to further her education and pursue a degree in elementary education. One lucky young woman will be chosen Thursday at the coronation ceremony to bear the crown. Last year, Allison Bentley was selected as the 2015 Queen and will hand down her title to one of the court. Bentley, along with the four other princesses, has been traveling around to parades and other events all year as dignitaries of the festival. The coronation also gives large scholarships to the court in hopes of helping the local young women to pursue higher education.
