Guild Mortgage raises
$43,000 for local nonproits
The Daily Astorian
On July 15, the Lake Oswego Branch of
Guild Mortgage put on their fourth annual
Cast & Blast charity event in Astoria. Par-
ticipants enjoyed a day illed with adventure
and fun, all while raising money for local
nonproit organizations Veterans Sportsman
Alliance, an organization making a real dif-
ference in the lives of injured and disabled
veterans, and First Story, a program serv-
ing individuals and families in need through
new home construction and other home
ownership opportunities.
Guests were greeted in the early morn-
ing as 26 boats left the docks for guided
sturgeon ishing. Catch sizes of the day
welcome. Bring nonperishable food

Knochlers Pinochle Group — 1

The Astoria Regatta is
looking for volunteers to
help out Aug. 12 and 13.
Two volunteers are needed
for the Gathering of Past
Admirals and Presidents
Luncheon on Aug. 12; on
Aug. 13, 20 volunteers are
needed for the Grand Land
parade, and 30 are needed
for the Regatta Square and
Kids Fun Zone. Most of the
shifts are short, and every
volunteer will receive
either a complimentary
meal or a beer at Regatta
Square.

noon was illed with skeet shooting, a silent
auction, casino night games, and several
rafles. One lucky guest won a trip to Italy
as part of a Golden Ticket rafle.
During dinner, a live auction took
place, where some of the high ticketed
items included an Argentina Dove Hunt,
a California Boar hunt, a wine connois-
seur’s trip to Walla Walla, Washington,
and a Pick Your Beach Destination trip.
The night capped off with a casino night,
where guests played blackjack, craps, and
roulette.
Over the course of the day, $43,000 was
raised and donated to the VSA and First
Story.

The groom is the son of Sharon
Allen of Sonora, California.
The couple were married at
the Camp 18 Logging Museum
in Seaside, where the reception
was also held. The bride was
given in marriage by her father.
She wore a strapless white
dress with beading and detail
on the front. Her wedding ring
belonged to her grandmother,
Maxine Grifith, who was mar-
ried for 59 years. The bride’s
son, Austin Woll, walked her to
her father, who then walked her
down the aisle.
Maid of honor was Patricia
Marie Hill. Anne Kreutzer was
the bridesmaid, and Isabella
Sawdon was the lower girl.
They all reside in Seaside.
