Association hosts
country music
Regatta concert
WARRENTON — The War-
renton Business Associa-
tion will present Nashville
recording artists John Berry
and Sherrié Austin in the
concert Friday Night in the
Park: A Regatta Celebration
on Friday, Aug. 12.
This free, sit-on-the-
grass family-friendly event
is part of the 2016 Astoria
Regatta Celebration. It will
be held in the Warrenton
Community Park, located at
300 S.W. Alder Ave. Grass
seating starts at 5:30 p.m.
and the show starts at 7
p.m.
“The WBA has a long-
standing relationship with
both the Regatta and the
Astoria-Warrenton Area
Chamber of Commerce, and
when the Regatta came to
the WBA and asked if we
would consider doing an
event that would be held
in Warrenton, the board
jumped right on it,” said
WBA President Roxanne
Williams-Morinville.
“This is truly a commu-
nity event!” Williams-Mor-
inville continued. “All pro-
ceeds from concessions and
beer sales will beneit local
not-for-proit organiza-
tions,” including Warrenton
Kids Inc. and the Warrenton
Community Library.
“John Berry and Sherrié
Austin are great talents, and
we are very excited to have
them performing in War-
renton,” said WBA Board
Member Paul Mitchell.
In 1992, Berry signed
his irst record deal with
Capital Records and quickly
became a country radio fan
favorite with hits like “Your
Love Amazes.” “Standing
on the Edge of Goodbye”
earned Berry a coveted
1995 Grammy nomination.

successes to come. The
hit “Change My Mind”
earned him a Top 5 spot on
the country music charts
in 1996. “She’s Taken a
Shine” became an even
bigger hit in 1997. Both
fans and the media took
note again when “There He
Goes” was released in 1999
as a duet with Patsy Cline.
In 2002, Berry returned to
making records for his own
company, Clear Sky Re-
cords. “Songs and Stories,”
a double CD, was issued
that year.
In 2003, Berry released
his “I Give My Heart”
collection and its criti-
cally applauded wedding
anthem “Will You Marry
Me.” In 2008, “Those Were
the Days,” was released,
marking Berry’s return to
mainstream country music.
He created his irst Chris-
tian music album in 2011.
In 2012, Berry published
the combination book and
CD, again titled “Songs and
Stories.” Over the years,
he has continued to tour
steadily.

opened for Johnny Cash in
Australia. She moved to the
United States and landed a
role on “The Facts of Life”
as Pippa McKenna; she also
guest-starred in “The Fresh
Prince of Bel-Air.”
Austin signed her irst
record deal shortly after
moving to Nashville; her
solo debut album, “Words,”
was released in 1997.

promotes a shared vision
and stimulates economic
thinking, uniied planning
efforts, promotes the War-
renton business community,
and represents all business
by promoting the livability,
location and business inter-
action in the city.

After signing a new
record deal, Austin’s next
album, “Streets of Heaven,”
was released in 2003. The
heart-wrenching title track

resonate with fans. In 2005,
Austin headed to Broadway
and was cast in both “Bon-
nie & Clyde” and “Ring
of Fire – The Johnny Cash
Musical Show.” Back in
Nashville, she continued to
earn cuts from her country
