    Beach living at its best

ith a generous double lot, spacious rooms, wraparound deck and
close proximity to two beaches, the home at 652 Nita Ave. in
Gearhart combines the best of all worlds.
The home may be within a short walking distance to the downtown
bakery, restaurant and other shops, but its location is private and serene.
And reaching the beach is easy — it’s only one block to the beach trail at
Gin Ridge and one block to Little Beach.
A great vacation home or perfect year-round residence, this four-bed-
room, three-bath home is spacious but cozy. The well maintained home
has a new septic tank and roof, and new sealant on the deck. Walls of
cottage-style windows with plantation shutters run through the living room
and dining room, overlooking the wraparound deck and beyond to the
trees on the oversized lot. Built-in shelves and cabinets in the living room
provide storage space for favorite books and other keepsakes.
Two wood-burning fi replaces — one in the living room and another in
the dining room — add warmth when family or friends gather together
on chilly beach nights to talk, play games or dine on a nice meal prepared
in the large kitchen. While the chef prepares dinner on the gas stove on
the island between the kitchen and dining room, there’s plenty of counter space for
other cooks, as well as room for three guests to sit at the island.
Hardwood fl oors run throughout the living and dining rooms and kitchen. A door
from the dining room leads to a south-facing deck built for entertaining. On the east
side, the deck is covered to provide outdoor space, even in less-than-perfect weather.
A fi rst-fl oor master bedroom (also accessible to the deck) and full bathroom
provide a complete living area on the main level. Enjoy a morning coff ee outside
while experiencing the salty beach air.
Upstairs, there’s room to spare for guests. A generous landing lends itself to a
great hangout for kids to play while the adults gather downstairs. The landing is
bordered by three comfortable bedrooms, each looking out over the trees and yard.
A full bathroom also is located upstairs.
Space abounds in the yard, where running freely is allowed or reading in the
sunshine makes perfect sense. Star-gazing in the evenings can be done while friends
and family warm themselves by the fi re in the stacked-stone fi re pit accessible from
the stairs leading from the deck.
It’s easy to enjoy the best of beach living in this roomy, bright home where
memories are waiting to be made.
