Loop-Jacobsen Jewelers, Inc.
A family owned and operated jewelry store since 1919
1360 Commercial • Astoria, OR • 325-6181
Loop-Jacobsen was started in 1932 when Harvey K. Loop bought out Schulz in
Schulz-Jacobsen. Schulz-Jacobsen was started about 1919. Harvey K. Loop also
purchased Donnerberg Jewelry, owned by Frank Donnerberg,
consolidating the two stores into one store, located in the Astor
Building. The store was moved to its present location in
1961. Richard and Estel Van Winkle bought the store on
years
April 1, 1977. Their son Frank now runs the business.
The Van Winkles sell and repair jewelry and clocks.
They carry Black Hills gold, pearls, sterling silver and
14kt. gold jewelry. House calls are available for Grand
father clocks and clock repairs.
They do custom engraving on metals and plastic for
trophies, engrave name tags and inside ring engraving.
Frank designs pendants, rings, bracelets and earrings
for the store. Judy restrings and knots those broken
strands of pearls or beads.

IT’S A GOOD
THING!
At 91 years young,
this Grand Ole Gal
looks GREAT.
City Lumber moved to the foot of 9th Street in the
1920’s. In the 1930’s, with our name changed to City
Lumber and Supply Co., we opened a lumberyard at
2142 Commercial, our present location. Early in the
1950’s all of our operations were consolidated at our
Commercial Street location. Our business has grown
to include selling not only building materials like lumber,
plywood, moldings, doors, windows and roofing, to
selling plumbing and electrical supplies, paint,
wallpaper, light fixtures and lawn and garden items.
We’d like to thank our customers and our faithful and
loyal employees who have made City Lumber the
business it is today. Community service has been
City Lumber’s hallmark for the last 112 years and will
continue for the next 112 years.
