Dawn McIntosh will
become the newest Clatsop
County Circuit Court j udge
in January.
The Secretary of State’s
Offi ce certifi ed the May pri-
mary election results last
week, and notifi ed McIntosh
that she won with 50.2 per-
cent of the vote. The slight
majority is enough to avoid
a runoff election this fall
against challenger David
Goldthorpe.
Goldthorpe,
a
dep-
uty district attorney, with-
drew his plans to challenge
the outcome of the election.
Requesting a recount would
have cost more than $3,000,
he said.
Goldthorpe
fi nished
with 29 percent of the vote.
Municipal Court Judge Ron-
ald Woltjer had 21 percent.
Overall,
McIntosh
collected
5,146
votes,
Goldthorpe had 2,970 votes,
and Woltjer had 2,106 votes.
McIntosh, an attorney
and former prosecutor, will
replace Judge Philip Nelson,
the county’s longest-serving
elected offi cial, who is retir-
ing this year after 24 years on
the bench.
She joins Circuit Court
Judges Paula Brownhill and
Cindee Matyas.
“I’m excited at the oppor-
tunity,” McIntosh said. “I’m
looking forward to it.”
McIntosh is leaving her
law fi rm in Gearhart and
returning to her previous law
fi rm, Campbell and Popkin,
in Seaside. She plans to keep
working throughout the year.
Before campaigning for
the open judgeship, McIntosh
worked as a courtroom law-
yer for nearly 24 years.
In her career, she worked
as an attorney and partner
at Campbell and Popkin, a
Clatsop County chief dep-
uty district attorney and an
intern-deputy in Multnomah
County District Attorney’s
violent crimes unit.
Nursing assistant’s certifi cate
revoked for neglecting care
The Daily Astorian
The Oregon State Board
of Nursing revoked the nurs-
ing assistant certifi cate of
Jesse Misner, of Astoria, in
April for allegedly neglect-
ing the care of several
patients and failing to coop-
erate with the board during
the investigation.
In August 2015, Misner
reportedly failed to provide
basic hygiene to a patient for
several hours. Twice in Janu-
ary, he apparently neglected
the care of a patient for several
hours. Again in February, he
was found to have neglected a
patient for several hours.
Misner was reported to the
board in February, when the
investigation was opened.
During the investigation,
the board sent two letters
to Misner asking to sched-
ule an interview to discuss
the allegations and have him
send a written statement.
The board claims Misner
failed to schedule an inter-
view and did not provide any
documents.
Misner was issued his cer-
tifi ed nursing assistant certifi -
cate in June 2015.
