I
n a quarter century, Seaside Heights
Elementary School students will open a
time capsule and ind written memories
from this year’s fourth-graders about
their ield trip to Fort Clatsop.
The students in 2041 will read about this
year’s class making lint-and-steel ires,
serving on guard duty and working with
hides and furs.
The time capsule was sealed in June and is
being kept in the elementary school’s library.
Seaside School District and the National
Park Service are both celebrating their cen-
tennial and partnered together on the time
capsule. Recent Seaside High School grad-
uate Isabella Curcin put the project together
as part of her Paciica Project.
Curcin collected the fourth-grader’s
thoughts on their visit to the park, and also
gathered letters from the senior class about
their fondest memories visiting Fort Clatsop.
“Some wrote a letter to themselves or
another person,” Curcin said.
The time capsule also included a park
ranger hat and badges, graduation tassel,
books, a copy of The Daily Astorian, and a
report from the high school’s economic class
estimating that the minimum wage will be
more than $120 in a quarter century.
