2A THE DAILY ASTORIAN • WEDNESDAY, MAY 25, 2016 ‘Whom will you be thinking about or remembering on Memorial Day?’ THE DAILY ASTORIAN // QUESTION OF THE WEEK “I lost one of my partners in a fi refi ght in Afghanistan in February 2007. I also take that time to remember all my brothers, from all the branches, who made the ultimate sacrifi ce not only for their families, but also for our country.” “My mom and dad both served in World War II. My Uncle Frank, in the Navy, died early on in World War II. My mother served in New Zea- land as a nurse, taking care of downed bomber pilots. My father was on a repair ship, fi xing ships at sea.” “I will be thinking of all of the members of the Welsh Choir, and I will sing in the Astoria Column. The echo turns my weak voice into a vibrant choir.” Terry Best, Astoria Jane Tucker, Astoria Jennifer Nightingale, Astoria OBITUARY Local lawyer tapped as commencement speaker Summer William (Bill) Ostrom Seaside Feb. 4, 1919 — April 12, 2016 Bill was born on Feb. 4, 1919, to Master Sgt.
