Coaster Theatre
invites public
to open house
The Daily Astorian
CANNON BEACH — To
launch the Coaster Theatre’s
45th year, an open house is
planned from 3 to 5 p.m. Sun-
day at the theater, 108 N. Hem-
lock St. Admission is free.
“This will be an opportunity
for those who haven’t been to the
theatre in a while, or who have
never been inside it, to check it
out,” said Patrick Lathrop, execu-
tive director. “It’s also our chance
to say thank you to our long-time
supporters and volunteers.”
Light bites, fruit, wine and
soft drinks will be served, and
there will be performances,
lasting a few minutes each,
throughout the two hours. Per-
formers include Coaster actors
Jean White Rice, David Swee-
ney, Lisa Fergus, and Coaster
Kidz, Parker and Holly Fergus.
Tours of the theatre will also be
conducted.
Although the actual 45th
anniversary begins next Janu-
ary, the open house is a kick-off
for the theatre’s “Take-A-Seat,
Preserve the Playhouse” cam-
paign to raise funds to replace
the creaky, springy seats that can
distract from a theatre or con-
cert experience with more com-
fortable, state-of-the-art seats.
A sample of the new seats will
be available at the open house.
Donations will also help to
“refresh” the theatre with new
curtains, carpet, interior paint
and other touches.
