Contrapunctus Brass Trio to perform
Sunday Series continues at Birkenfeld Theatre in Clatskanie
CLATSKANIE — The Clatskanie
Arts Commission will present
the Contrapunctus Brass Trio in
concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April
24 at the Birkenfeld Theatre in
the Clatskanie Cultural Center,
located at 75 S. Nehalem St.
The Contrapunctus Brass
Trio has performed throughout
the United States and Europe.
The trio’s members are Gina
Gillie, Amy Schendel and Todd
Schendel.
Gillie plays horns. Gillie is
an assistant professor of music at
3aci¿c /utheran UniYersity and
is currently assistant principal
with the Tacoma Symphony. She
also performs as a Yocalist and
has participated in many choirs.
Amy Schendel plays trum-
pets. She currently holds the
position of associate professor of
trumpet at the UniYersity of ,owa
and has performed with the Min-
nesota Orchestra and Wisconsin
Chamber Orchestra as well as in
Europe. She has been described
as a “brilliant musician who
plays incisiYely without oYerdo-
ing it and while maintaining a
purity and roundness of tone that
draws us in.”
Todd Schendel plays trom-
bone and euphonium. He has
performed not only as a member
of the Wisconsin Chamber Or-
chestra but also with 'oc SeYer-
insen, Art Garfunkel and Wayne
Newton among others. As an ed-
ucator, Todd Schendel has taught
in Te[as, ,llinois, ,owa and is
presently teaching at /ower
Columbia College in /ongYiew,
Washington.

The concert’s program will
include “Trio for Brass” by Gil-
lie, “Trio pour trompette, cor et
trombone” by -ean /ousl and a
suite by Georg Friedrich Han-
del. The concert will also feature
selections from “Abe /incoln’s
Song Book,” which was ar-
