opens two group exhibits
ASTORIA — LightBox Pho-
tographic Gallery will open
two group photography ex-
hibits with a reception from
6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 9.
In honor of April being
Portland Photo Month, Light-
Box recognizes and celebrates
the Portland photographic
community with the ¿fth an-
nual “PDX 30 Exhibit.”
Tricia Hoffman, executive
director of Newspace Center
for Photography, served as
juror for this group exhibit.
Hoffman has worked in non-
pro¿t management for the
past 10 years, most recently at
Blue Sky Gallery and Photo-
lucida. One image each from
30 photographers was chosen
to be featured in the exhibit,
work that showcases the vi-
sion and creativity of the pho-
tographer and stood out from
the crowd.

Clarke, Wendi Andrews, Cal-
vin Chen, Rebecca Akporiaye
and Stepanka Peterka.
Also opening April 9 is
the “LightBox Files Exhib-
it.” Eight photographers were
chosen by the gallery direc-
tors to feature their work in
the viewing drawers at the
gallery for the 2016 calen-
dar year. The LightBox Files
are a new addition to the
gallery, recognizing those
who pursue the art of ¿ne
printing.
All eight photographers
will be featured with a series
of prints on the wall and a
collection in the drawers. The
photographers are: Michael
Puff, Ken Hochfeld, Tom
Kittel, Eleanor Gorman, Bri-
an Kosoff, Rich Bergeman,
Roger Dorband and Jim Con-
gleton.

at a young age he had a musical
soul. He has sung in worldwide
locations including Europe,
Asia and Africa. He has starred
in stage productions of “Ain’t
Misbehavin’” and “Showboat.”
Sanders, of Alexandria,
Louisiana, also felt an early
calling to music. He was nom-
inated for a Jessie Richardson
Award for Best Performance in
a Musical for his role in “When
the Rains Come.” McClelland,
a Detroit, Michigan, native,
picked up a trumpet at age 9 and
sang throughout his early years;
his musical inÀuences extend
from Motown to hip-hop.
The Raymond Theater is

RAYMOND, Wash. — Sunday
Afternoon Live presents a con-
cert by The Sojourners from
Vancouver, Canada, at 2 p.m.
Sunday, April 10. Consisting
of Marcus Mosely, Will Sand-
ers and Khari McClelland, this
trio brings its signature sound
of R&B, country and doo-
wop, as well as jubilee-style
old-time gospel music, to the
Raymond Theater.
Initially coming together in
2006 while working with blues
master Jim Byrnes, they were
dubbed The Sojourners, and
the name stuck. Their epony-
mous CD “The Sojourners” is
a combination of genres. The
group was nominated for the
Juno Award Blues Album of the
Year in 2011 and won a West-
ern Canada Music Award. The
trio has backed the Dixie Hum-
mingbirds and Dr. John and The
Blind Boys of Alabama.
