Community Easter Service
St. Mary, Star of the Sea
Several local church congregations are join-
ing together for a community Easter sunrise ser-
vice of music and prayer at 7 a.m. Sunday at
the Hilltop Church of the Nazarene, 725 Niag-
ara Ave. The public is welcome.
An Easter Vigil service is being held at 8:30
p.m. Saturday at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Cath-
olic Church, 1465 Grand Ave. Bring bells for
Gloria and candles in glass containers for the
service of light.
There is no Mass at the St. Francis de Sales
Mission on Saturday.
On Easter Sunday, there are three Masses at
St. Mary’s: at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., and a bi-lin-
gual (English/Spanish) Mass at 1 p.m.
The high school youth group is sponsoring a
Parish Easter Egg Hunt, to be held at noon Sun-
day. Parents may bring children ages 2-6 to the
upper ¿eld behind the church ages 7-11 meet
at the park across from the St. Mary, Star of the
Sea auditorium. If it is raining, everyone meets
in the auditorium, 1411 Grand Ave.

Great Vow Zen
CLATSKANIE — The Great Vow Zen Mon-
astery, located at 79640 Quincy-Mayger Road
in Clatskanie, is holding a “Transforming the
Inner Critic” weekend workshop, led by Patrick
Bansho Green and Laura Jomon Martin, from 5
p.m. April 8 to 1 p.m. April 10.
During this workshop, Buddhist and psy-
chological teachings are used to see one’s inner
critic more clearly. There will be guided med-
itations, group discussions and interactive
exercises.
The cost is $150 ($120 for Zen Community
of Oregon) plus donation, and includes dormi-
tory accommodations and meals.

First Lutheran
Easter weekend services and activities at

tonight with a Good Friday service at 7 p.m.

a.m. Sunday.
Easter Festival worship services with spe-
cial music at 8 and 11 a.m. Sunday, and Eas-
ter breakfast is served in the Fellowship Hall
from 9 to 10:30 a.m. A freewill offering bas-
ket for the church’s many outreach programs

Warrenton United Methodist
vice of Holy Week and Lent, is at noon Satur-
day. Holy Saturday, which is the only day in the
church year on which communion may not be
offered, ends at sundown.
Easter services are at 8 and 10 a.m. Sun-
day, the 130th Easter Sunday celebration in this
church building the ¿rst service there was held
April 25, 1886. A special cross will be out for
children to Àower with blooms brought from
home gardens. Following the 10 a.m. service,
there is a special Hot Cross Bun Social and an
Easter egg hunt.

WARRENTON — The Warrenton United
Methodist Church, 679 N. Main Ave., cel-
