Providence Seaside Hospital — Needs volunteers
to drive local senior citizens to medical appointments
for the Partners for Seniors Program, and to work in the
Providence Seaside Hospital Gift Shop. Commitments
as small as one hour a month to regularly scheduled

River Song Foundation — Looking for people to
assist with Trap/Neuter/Release/Feed (TNRF), espe-
cially in the Seaside and Knappa/Svenson areas. TNRF
involves setting and/or monitoring traps, and daily feed-
ing of cats and maintenance of any shelters, and is a
proven, science-based method that along with spay/
neuter programs is the only effective and humane way
of ending cat homelessness and suffering. Call 503-

bia Worship Group of the Society of Friends

Great Vow Zen
CLATSKANIE — The Great Vow Zen Mon-
astery, located at 79640 Quincy-Mayger Road
in Clatskanie, is holding a Beginners ’ Mind
Weekend Retreat, led by Adam Jogen Salzberg,
from 5 p.m. March 25 to 1 p.m. March 27.
During this weekend a monastic schedule is
followed. All elements of a meditation retreat
will be covered, including basic meditation
techniques, posture, breathing, formal meals,
and dealing with obstructions.
The cost is $150 ($120 for Zen Community
of Oregon) plus donation.

SEASIDE — Our Saviour’s Lutheran
Church presents “Song, Scripture and Sac-
rament” from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday
The Lenten Friday Stations of the Cross are
being held at 6 p.m. today at St. Mary, Star of
the Sea Catholic Church, 1465 Grand Ave., fol-
lowed by a meatless soup supper with bread
in the Star of the Sea School auditorium, 1411
Grand Ave. This week’s stations and supper are
sponsored by Star of the Sea Youth.
The Catholic Daughters of America Rum-
mage Sale is March 19 and 20. Donated items
may be brought in from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March
18 to the Star of the Sea School auditorium.

“Living Love, Living Mercy,” an all-day
youth event, is being held April 23 and include
music, prayer, speakers, the opportunity for a
service project and a pilgrimage walk from the
Grotto to St. Mary’s Cathedral in downtown
Portland, where Archbishop Sample will cele-
brate a closing mass.
The group will travel together from Astoria
early in the morning and return late in the eve-
ning. The cost is $30 per person, which includes
lunch and T-shirt. Scholarship funds are avail-
