TILLAMOOK — The
once-proud basketball tradi-
tion at Tillamook has fallen on
hard times, while the Astoria
Fishermen continue to climb
the ladder of the 4A boys bas-
ketball ranks.
Astoria improved to 6-1
in league play Tuesday night,
with a 60-41 win over the
winless Cheesemakers (0-7).

64-48 win at Banks Tuesday.
The Gulls held a slim
29-26 lead at halftime, before

in the second half.
“We picked it up defen-
sively in the second half,” said
Seaside coach Bill Wester-
holm, whose team improves
to 5-2 in league play, a game
behind Astoria. “We didn’t
stay attached to some of their
shooters in the ¿rst half and
gave up some easy hoops.”
The Gulls also had a bal-
anced attack offensively, as
Jaxson Smith led with 16
points, followed by Hunter
Thompson (15), Austin Eagon
(14) and Jackson Januik (11).

Rainier, which went on an 8-4
run to close out the ¿rst half.
The Columbians were in
early foul trouble, as they had
seven fouls with 1:09 left in
the ¿rst Tuarter.

Working for a strong
Community
We make a difference together
Each year, CMH caregivers give more than 10,000 volunteer
hours and thousands of dollars in donations to our commu-
nity. CMH raises money each year for worthy community
organizations, including United Way, American Cancer So-
ciety and March of Dimes. Our caregivers are little league
coaches, volunteer firefighters, board members and more.
At home and at work, our caregivers are dedicated to serving
our neighbors. That is why CMH offers many programs
designed to help those who are uninsured or under-insured.
We provide the healthcare you need, when you need it.
