    Love at first sight
THE JAMIE HANNA & DOMINIK RAUCH WEDDING
STORY BY NANCY MCCARTHY • PHOTOS BY JULIE ADAMS
I
t was love at first sight for Jamie Hanna
when she met soccer player Dominik Rauch
in Germany.
As soon as she locked eyes with Dominik,
a soccer team captain, Jamie said she just knew
he was the one.
She ended up staying in Germany for three years
“for this boy” before she brought him home to St.
Helens. They now live in Portland.
At first, they wanted a “destination” wedding where
their German and American families and friends could
join them. Eventually, they ruled out the Caribbean and

eagerly decided on a place much closer: Cannon Beach.
“Cannon Beach has a destination feel,” Jamie said.
“And a lot of our family and friends could be there.
Everybody started booking rooms right and left. They
used it as a getaway weekend.”
They weren’t disappointed.
“It was a fun, fun amazing time,” she said.
“It was great,” Dominik added. “We love the beach
atmosphere.”
Jamie bought her wedding dress in Germany. Made
in Italy, the dress was long-sleeved and covered in lace.
But the fitting in Germany was a “disaster,” Jamie said.
“I took it to a seamstress in St. Helens, and she had to
rebuild the dress,” including reapplying the lace, she said.
On their wedding day Oct. 23, the skies cleared.
“The weather was good,” Jamie said.
Jamie and Dominik said their vows in front of 50
family members and friends in the Surfsand Resort
ballroom. They stood in front of the fireplace while
Jamie’s uncle officiated. Jamie’s three sisters and
Dominik’s sister were bridesmaids, and her best friend
was the maid of honor. Dominik’s brother-in-law acted
as the groom’s best man.
Dominik’s mother performed the Lord’s Prayer. >>
