The bridal party made a stunning tableau clad in shades of
gray, black and white with just a touch of burgundy. Amanda
looked wonderful in a white, off-the-shoulder gown with a low-
cut, fitted bodice that gave way at the hip to a full skirt with an
overskirt of gossamer layers.
In true dog-lover’s fashion, both the couple’s dogs were at
their wedding. Django, a boy and all black, hung around for
the ceremony and features prominently in several wedding
pictures. The second dog kept a lower profile. Amanda had
ordered bowties for them for the occasion, but they hadn’t
come in time.
The newlyweds’ fervent wish was to have a “whimsical”
wedding — on the beach and in the woods,” since they’re avid
outdoor enthusiasts. This wasn’t difficult.
“We rented an Arch Cape beach house. After the ceremony,
everybody walked down the street and we were in the woods.
Then we walked farther down the street and we were on the
beach,” Amanda says.
At the simple reception, guests feasted on crostini, shrimp,
turkey breast, crab cakes and a marionberry dip that the bride
especially liked. Daniel’s mother quickly became a hard and
fast devotee of Oregon’s Erath Winery’s Pinot Noir. There was
champagne and a keg of craft beer from Royale Brewing in
Portland. The popular Cannon Beach Bakery created the
wedding cake — round and white with frosting that actually
sparkled, topped with a few fresh flowers. Fancy chocolate,
poppy seed and white cupcakes pleased guests who like to have
choices. >>
