hite fabric draped the
hardwood walls of the
loft in Astoria’s Red
Building. White roses
held back the curtains at
the altar where James and
Gretchen Teevin were
married May 23.
“Tons of white fabric hung
from the ceiling, and there were crystal chandeliers,”
Gretchen recalled. “It was all white with a touch of silver
and gold.”
The Teevins met six years ago when friends introduced
them. They were engaged in March 2014.
They decided on the 120-year-old Red Building on the

Columbia Riverfront because they liked the loft’s rustic
look. It also had the capacity to hold 250 guests.
Event coordinators Evie Larson and Jessica Newhall
“did everything for us,” Gretchen said. “They did an
amazing job. We were very blessed.”

To go along with the “rustic elegance” theme, Gretchen
chose a wedding dress that had a “simple, vintage look.”
The ivory strapless gown was covered in flower
appliques and, at the waist, a taupe sash was adorned with
tiny crystals.
A maid of honor, five bridesmaids and a junior
bridesmaid attended Gretchen. Included among the
bridesmaids was Gretchen’s daughter, Ryain Killion, 15.
Gretchen’s son, Bradey Killion, 11, walked her down the
aisle.
Five groomsmen attended James.
The dock adjacent to the Red Building provided a perfect
backdrop for wedding photos taken by James Olson, of
Alderbrook Imaging.
Erickson Floral Co. supplied the flowers and
Bridgewater Bistro prepared the meal, which included
prime rib, chicken, rosemary potatoes and salads.
The couple spent their honeymoon in San Francisco and
Palm Springs before returning home to Knappa.
