Former peninsula resident
arrested in inmate-sex case
By NATALIE ST. JOHN
EO Media Group
CHEHALIS, Wash. — A
former peninsula resident
was arrested last week on
suspicion of having sexual
relations with an inmate at
the juvenile detention facility
where she worked.
The Washington State Pa-
trol arrested Erin Lee Sno-
dgrass , 36, at Green Hill
School in Chehalis. She is
charged with first-degree
custodial sexual misconduct.
In Washington state, it is a
felony for any law enforcement

other employee of a correction-
al facility to have sexual inter-
course with a person who is
under arrest, or in custody, even
if the sex was consensual.
Snodgrass had worked
as a counselor at Green Hill
since 2013, according to
Chris Wright, a spokesper-
son for the Department of
Social and Health Services.
The department’s Juvenile
Rehabilitation Administra-
tion manages Green Hill, a
medium and maximum secu-
rity facility that serves older
teen boys and young men.
According to a press re-
lease, the department or-
dered an investigation last
year after staff members at
Green Hill reported suspi-
cions that Snodgrass was
engaged in allegedly in-
appropriate behavior. The
Washington Department of Social and Health Services
Erin Snodgrass is placed under arrest.
Washington State Patrol
conducted the investigation.

an alternative assignment,
where she did not have any
contact with juveniles during
the course of the investiga-
tion, the press release said.
Wright said Tuesday that
the alleged victim is now 19
years old. He did not know
when the alleged misconduct
occurred, or how old the al-
leged victim was at the time.
“We are disturbed by the
actions of this individual and
have done everything we can
to hold her fully account-
able,” Rehabilitation Ad-
ministration Assistant Sec-
retary John Clayton said in
the press release. “DSHS has
zero tolerance for this type
of behavior.” Clayton said
the department has conduct-
ed additional training with
staff and detention and re-
habilitation facility residents
about how to recognize in-
appropriate misconduct, and
how to report it.
Snodgrass, formerly Erin
Stiebritz, is originally from
Montana, but she lived in
Long Beach and graduated
with the Ilwaco High School
class of 1997. According to a
June 1997 Chinook Observ-
er grad profile, she was an
honors student, athlete and
cheerleader who participated
in extracurricular math, sci-
ence and drama activities, as
well as National Honor Soci-
ety and Running Start.
