Little Ballet Theater Inc. PROGRAM OVERVIEW Since 1974, Little Ballet Theatre, Inc. (LBT) has provided grants for dancers wishing to attend master classes, and summer intensives. Proceeds from the Nutcracker and other events sponsored by LBT, plus generous sponsors have allowed not only dance study grants, but also academic grants for graduating seniors. Little Ballet Theatre is a 503 (C) (3) nonprofit corporation and is recognized by the Oregon Cultural Trust. Little Ballet Theatre is governed by a 15 member board of directors. Each spring, LBT’s dance company members perform his or her own choreographed dance at the Young Choreographer’s Showcase at the Liberty Theater. Each summer, LBT sponsors the North Coast Summer Dance Camp, providing guest instructors from major dance companies and company affiliated schools, and inviting students from the Pacific Northwest. The annual gala holiday production of the Nutcracker ballet, including professional guest artists, over 75 local dancers, nearly as many volunteer staff, and a professional 50-piece orchestra has been featured nationally by NBC’s Today Show and has been invited to perform in Pendleton with the Oregon East Symphony. The three traditional holiday performances are the jewel of North Coast holiday events. Four levels of the LBT company members - Senior, Junior, Apprentice and Aspirant - are selected based on their skill levels, self-discipline and dedication, attendance, participation in enrichment classes and events.
