PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Liberty Theater has been lovingly restored and
currently operates as a performing arts center,
concert hall, conference center and elegant
event venue.
Liberty Theater, located in the heart of
downtown Astoria, was designed to transport
you to a Venetian Palace and is one of Oregon’s
best examples of a 1920s vaudeville-motion
picture palace. Opened in 1925, the theater was
originally home to vaudeville acts and silent
movies.
Recognized by the National Trust for Historic
Preservation-Save America’s Treasures, the
Liberty was chosen Best Historic Venue in
Oregon “People’s Choice” by Northwest Meeting + Events, 2013 and is a winner of the Dr. Edward Harvey
“This Place Matters” Historic Preservation Award, City of Astoria

OUR GOALS INCLUDE
• Encouraging quality productions by
local artists/performers and other
outside presenters;
• Presenting quality productions that
are within the economic reach of a
broad spectrum of the community, and
reach audiences of all ages;
• Providing a balance of events which
are culturally rich and discipline diverse;
• Providing and encouraging
educational programs relating to the
performing arts;
• Becoming the focal point of a
revitalized downtown Astoria; and
• Contributing to the economic well
being of Clatsop County.
VOLUNTEER
Liberty Theater has a
cherished and active group
of volunteers. There is a 2-
hour orientation class to
become a volunteer usher.
A volunteer may earn a
complimentary ticket to a
“Liberty Theater Presents”
event after working a
minimum of six events.
Volunteers can volunteer
at virtually any event in the
Complex and with some
additional training, may
volunteer as a docent for
Cruise Ship passenger

Mission Statement/
Vision/Goals:
Liberty Restoration Inc.’s mission is
to restore the elegance of the
Historic Liberty Theater Complex
while transforming it into a regional,
contemporary performing arts and
cultural center, and to create a point
of destination which contributes to
the economic vitality of the area.
(Adopted in 1998).
• Our extant Business Plan
identifies four key
objectives: economic
revitalization, cultural
enhancement, arts education
enrichment and historic preservation.
• Liberty Theater’s operational
mission is to enhance the cultural
and educational opportunities in the
Lower Columbia region by operating
a contemporary, multi-purpose
performing arts and event facility.
• We provide a forum for
community events, a center for local,
regional and national performing
artists, a center that fosters
education and the development of
the performing arts, and a center
that anchors downtown Astoria’s
continued economic revitalization.
