Die-in for breast cancer at Astoria HS Block parties celebrate The Daily Astorian Astoria High School senior Libby Di Bartolomeo and former school board member and breast cancer survivor Laura Snyder will hold the Astoria Die-in for Metastatic Breast Cancer at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Astoria High School gymnasium. There will be die-ins nation- wide, and De Bartolomeo is orga- nizing Astoria’s as her senior proj- ect. She and Snyder are gathering 110 people, the average number of people who die each day of meta- static breast cancer in the U.S., to “die-in” to bring awareness to the form of cancer. According to Metavivor, an organization focusing on stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, only 2 percent of breast cancer funding goes to help those with metastatic breast cancer, the only form of fa- tal breast cancer. Donations will be accepted at the event and sent to Metavivor to learn more about the disease and to research how to lengthen the lifespan of those battling it. The event is public. To assist, email adibartolomeo16@asto- riak12.org, or call 503-468-8571. Donations by check, payable to Metavivor, are also being accepted by mail: Libby Di Bartolomeo c/o Di Bartolomeo Law Office at 1139 Exchange St. in Astoria, 97103.
