Dutch sky. He began to paint at an early
age under the instruction of a mother
and brother who dabbled with paint
and canvas. Further inspiration was his
grandparents’ art collection, which in-
cluded 17th, 18th and 19th century oil
paintings. Since moving to the North
Coast in 1990, Vlek has earned respect
and admiration as an accomplished
artist and art instructor. During art
walk, view locally inspired still life and
landscape scenes as well as Dutch rec-
ollections.

Great Gallery had numerous requests
for a repeat performance. This month
the gallery takes it one step further:
more sunflowers in the form of orig-
inals, new glicees, photographs on
canvas by Ashley Thomas, seasonal
stationery boxes in time for the holiday
season, pumpkins, fall scenes, as well
as new fall creations by DM Designs —
golden warm Octobers at the beach

Polynesia, Indonesia, the Canary Islands
and Mexico. The North Coast of Oregon
has become one of her favorite locations.
Other members’ work will also be on
display. The public is welcome to browse
the gallery and gift shop featuring an
all-new monthly exhibit of oil paintings,
watercolors, acrylics, photography, col-
lage, cards and gifts.
