Elks offer essay contest SEASIDE — Each year the Elks offer an es- say contest to students in the fifth through eighth grades. The American- ism Essay Contest is de- signed to inspire children to express in writing their views about being an American. This year’s topic is “What I Can Do to Promote Americanism and Love of Country.” Entry forms have been sent to the local public schools, however this contest is also offered to home, charter and church sponsored schools. The first place winner at the local level will win $75. Winning essays will be forwarded to the district level.
