Enjoy wine tasting, auction Friends of Skamokawa hold fundraiser for Redmen Hall upkeep, operation SKAMOKAWA, Wash. — The Friends of Skamokawa at Redmen Hall announces their annual fundraiser A Cornuco- pia of Wines, a wine tasting and auction Saturday, Sept. 12 in the Skamokawa Grange at the Wahkiakum County Fair- grounds. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. This event draws visitors from throughout the Northwest and is a great oppor- tunity to help keep this beauti- ful building standing tall. This event is the main an- nual fundraiser with all pro- ceeds directed to the main- tenance and operation of the River Life Interpretive Center at Redmen Hall. There will be a paddle raise during the eve- ning to help fund a memorial garden project on the grounds. Advance tickets for A Cor- nucopia of Wines are $15 each or $25 per couple. Tickets can be purchased at the Bank of the Paci¿c in Cathlamet and the Skamokawa General Store in Skamokawa. Tickets sold at the door will be $20 single and $30 per couple. Happy 11th birthday, Hoffman Center Celebration includes open house, art show, performances MANZANITA — The Hoffman Center for the Arts will cele- brate its 11th anniversary with an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, followed by a concert from 5:15 to 7 p.m. in the Hoffman Gardens (if weather permits, inside the center if it is raining). Other scheduled Enjoy Big Band in the Park Labor Day concert Clatskanie Arts Commission kicks off Performing Arts Series CLATSKANIE — The Clats- kanie Arts Commission is kicking off its 27th Perform- ing Arts Series with its annual Big Band in the Park concert on Labor Day. This free concert, spon- sored by Larry and Donna Garlock, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7 in Clatskanie City Park with music by the North Coast Big Band from Astoria. Hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, ice cream and beverages will be available for purchase as a fundraiser by the Clatskanie Arts Commission beginning at 1 p.m. In celebration of the arts commission’s anniversary, free cake will be served at in- termission.
