Shelter seeks volunteers for Cat Room
WARRENTON — The
Clatsop County Animal Shelter,
1315 S.E. 19th St., seeks volun-
teers to help care for and adopt
out cats. Volunteers will work
either the morning or afternoon
shift, one day a week.
The morning shift, 9 or 9:30
a.m. until noon, involves cleaning
cat cages and providing socializa-
tion (playing, petting) to the cats.
Morning volunteers work in pairs.
The cleaning takes approximately
1.5 hours for two people.
The afternoon shift runs from
noon to 4 p.m., and volunteers
are expected to be in the Cat
Room during those hours to
greet the public and help match
potential adopters with the right
cat. The afternoon shift also pro-
vides time for cat socialization.
All new cat volunteers attend
an orientation session, which
provides general information
about the shelter. Training on
the Cat Room procedures, both
morning cleaning and afternoon
adoption, is provided by one of
the cat volunteer trainers.

Seaside Rotary Foundation
gives $24,000 to local grads
SEASIDE — The Sea-
side Rotary Foundation has
continued its long history of
awarding college scholar-
ships to Seaside High School
graduates. In total, $24,000
was awarded to seven recent
graduates at the scholarship
awards ceremony earlier in
the summer.
Harvey Scholarship Re-
cipients Allison Kilday and
Calvin Pollard each re-
ceived a $2,000 renewable
scholarships for four years,
for a total of $16,000. Ro-
tary Foundation Scholar-
ship recipients Allison Bus-
sert, Josh Chesnut, Shane
Fritter and Trenton Meyer
received $1,500 each, and
Hannah Garhofer was giv-
en the Deb Hauger $2,000
scholarship.
