Knappa Days promises fun
KNAPPA — The seventh annual
Knappa Days will be held Satur-
day, Aug. 15 with two addition-
al events held Sunday, Aug. 16.
Knappa Days is a family-friend-
ly event put on by the Knappa
Boosters Club, which support
the sports teams at Knappa High
School. Most events will take
place at Knappa Days Field,
across U.S. Highway 30 from
the Logger Restaurant.
Festivities kick off at 9 a.m.
Saturday with the parade, start-
ing at Knappa Day Field and fol-
lowing its usual route along Hill-
crest Loop Road. There will also
be vendor food and crafts booths,
a climbing wall, a bounce house,
face painting, a dunk tank, games
and a petting zoo.
The Logging Show will take
place at 10 a.m. Knappa forestry
students will show off their skills,
and the public can compete in
some events for cash prizes.

will start at 1 p.m. Assembled

ting zoo on Saturday, Aug. 15.
and will draw a big crowd. This
year, children ages 2 to 6 are
encouraged to bring their tricy-
cles, bikes and big wheels for a
kiddies race on the lawnmower
track.
A Rock Crawl / Truck Show
is also set from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
There will be a Bean Bag
Tournament at 4 p.m. hosted by
the Knappa High School Track
Team. Day-of registration is $25
per person or $50 per team of
two. Tournament winners will
win $50 cash and a specially
made bean bag board set. Lynette

At dark, a movie will be

class of 2017, who will run the
movie and serve popcorn and
candy.
At 8:30 a.m. Sunday, the
Christy Miethe and Lindy
Yuill Memorial 5K walk / 10K
run will take place, sponsored
by Lower Columbia Hospice
and Teevin Brothers Land and
Timber. The run is in memory
of Miethe and Yuill, two sis-
ters who died two years apart.
The race starts at Woody’s
Wabbits on Allen Road. Day-
of registration costs $25, in-
cluding a T-shirt; arrive at 8
a.m. or earlier to preregister.
Proceeds from the walk/run go
to the Christy Miethe Scholar-
ship Fund.
The Mush Ball Tournament
will be held all day Sunday from
10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Danny
Patterson Field. Registration fees

Picture Attic hosts live art
demos by NW Artist Guild
LONG BEACH, Wash. — The
Northwest Artist Guild an-
nounces a permanent location
for display of members’ art-
work. The Picture Attic will
hang artwork by the guild, and
each month will host a live art
demonstration by a member.
August’s featured artist is
Wes Moehnke, who is noted
for his watercolors featuring
trains, cars and buildings.
Moehnke has an engineering
background, and his work
